Reduced delivery time from 4 hours to 25 mins (10x faster). The project aims to digitalise healthcare supply chain by connecting district Hospitals to PHC/CHC  

Shillong, November, 2021: TechEagle – a Gurugram based DeepTech start-up drone that is building Drone logistic Airline has partnered with Govt. of Meghalaya and Smart Village Movement (SVM) to carry out India’s first hybrid e-VTOL Drone delivery of lifesaving medicines. The collaboration is aimed at transforming the healthcare supply chain for hard-to-reach population. 

Complete Flight ( Nongstoin District Hospital to Maweit PHC):  

1. Doctor at Nongstoin district hospital gave the medicine box to TechEagle team to load inside the Drone.  

2. Upon successful loading of the medicine into the drone bay, TechEagle’s e-VTOL Drone AquilaX2 took off from Nongstoin District Hospital vertically like a helicopter and converted automatically into fixed wing (like passenger aircraft) mode upon reaching the mission height.  

3. Drone cruised complete aerial distance of 25km at 90kmph speed to reach Maweit PHC.  

4. As soon as it reached to landing point at Maweit PHC, converted itself back to rotary wing mode to land vertically like a helicopter.  

5. TechEagle team unloaded the package and handed over the medicine box to doctor at Maweit PHC.

TechEagle’s e-VTOL Aquila X2 delivered the lifesaving drugs successfully to a 25km distance in less than 25 minutes. Drones have potential to improve lives of 18,50,000 citizens of Meghalaya.  

The company’s state-of-the-art drone delivery technology ensures consistent, safe and reliable distribution of life-saving drugs (medicines, vaccines, blood and other medical essentials) in several parts of the state with the reverse logistics of samples for quick diagnosis.  

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Conard K Sangma, Chief Minister, Meghalaya “I would like to congratulate the entire team of TechEagle, Smart village movement and the health department who made this very unique and one of a kind project a success. We all know what great technology can do but to be able to use it for the benefit of the citizens of the state, something which is so meaningful to the people. Here the technology has been used for a very good cause. We look forward to use the technology in the long run. Today we have used it for the healthcare and in future we hopefully will be able to use this in agriculture and other allied sectors.”

Hybrid e-VTOL:  

Hybrid e-VTOLs are Vertical Take-Off & Landing Vehicles that take off vertically like a helicopter and transform themselves into fixed-wing mode (like passenger aircraft) for travelling longer distances with higher speed, and when they reach the delivery locations, transforms back to helicopter mode to land accurately which makes it efficient to use in diverse terrains. TechEagle’s in-house e-VTOLs, Aquila X2, has been developed to such that it can operate in varied geographical conditions including the mountainous Northeast.

Launch of “Restart Meghalaya Mission’ on 15th August 2020

The Mission comprise of a series of interventions to support farmers and entrepreneurs by enabling them to build growth-promoting basic infrastructure and services. Under this Mission, 1917iTEAMS – the IT Platform aimed at enabling farmers access to agricultural information, crop advisories and markets will be expanded logistically through induction of another 100 vehicles.

Creation of the Directorate of Food Processing on May 2018

With the objective of seizing opportunities in the sector and the untapped food processing potential of the state for uplifting the livelihoods of farmers and value chain actors, the Government of Meghalaya created the Directorate of Food Processing (DFP) as a one-stop agency to handle all matters relating to food processing in the state and to deal with all central government Ministries and Agencies (viz. Ministries of Agriculture, and Food Processing, SFAC, NCDC, NABARD, etc.) in all matters pertaining to the development of agricultural food processing sector.

First Ever Farmer’s Parliament held on 4th - 5th December 2018

The parliament was organised by the state department of agriculture in collaboration with Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) and the Hill Farmers' Union (HFU). As a step toward the promotion of new technologies, HFU with the support of Meghalaya government, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Machine Learning Artificial Intelligence App for farmers — called Nongrep (nongrep in Khasi language means farmer) with its software partner Impetus Solutions from Hyderabad — as a social innovation project. This app will address matters of farm aggregations, soil health and disease identification, crop yield, farm produce pickups, market linkage and retail sellers app.

Launch of the Farmer’s Portal on 7th May 2018

The Meghalaya Famers’ Portal (www.megfarmers.gov.in) of the Department of Agriculture is a platform for farmers to seek any information related to agriculture. Detailed information on farmers’ insurance, agricultural storage, crops, extension activities, seeds, pesticides, farm machineries, etc. is provided. Details of fertilizers, market prices, package and practices, programmes, welfare schemes are also given.

Awards & Recognitions
  • Meghalaya has been selected for the Commendation award in 'Total foodgrains Category-III' for 2017-18. The award consists of a citation and an amount of Rs. 1 crore.
  • Meghalaya Agriculture Department and the MIE Meghalaya Team won the '7th eNabling North East (eNorth East) Award 2019-20' in the 'Agriculture & Rural Development' category for 1917 iTEAMS project which is a project in collaboration with Digital India.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded Meghalaya on May 2018 the Krishi Commendation Award for the year 2015-16, in recognition of the commendable foodgrains production achieved by the State.
  • Meghalaya has been adjudged the Most Improved Small State in the category of Agriculture and received the India Today – "The State of the States” Award on 23rd November 2018.
