Tura, December 21: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the new Batabari C&RD Block in West Garo Hills district in the presence of Rajabala MLA Abdus Saleh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed happiness that the long pending demand of the people could be brought to fruition and said that the creation of the new C&RD Block will bring administration closer to the people.
“It is the endeavour of the present Government to ensure development initiatives reach the people living in remotest parts of the State and this new C&RD block will enable Government services and schemes to be delivered efficiently,” he said.
At the same function, the Chief Minister along with the dignitaries unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the veterinary dispensary located at Bhaitbari (Rajpur), West Garo Hills.
The veterinary dispensary has been constructed under NABARD at an estimated cost of Rs. 90.4 lakhs.
The Chief Minister also distributed FOCUS+ cards to beneficiaries and kuroiler birds under the PROGRESS scheme. The Chief Minister also made a Direct Benefit Transfer to 23,491 beneficiaries amounting to Rs. 11.75 cr under FOCUS+.
