Shillong, April 7, 2022: In order to curb the unstable power supply in one of the Health and Wellness Centre located at Umsaw Nongkharai in Ri Bhoi District, which faces many problems from time to time especially in storage of vaccine that need regular power supply, Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma on Thursday inaugurated the Solar Power Energy installed at Umsaw Nongkharai Health and Wellness Centre with an aim to improve health care facilities to the people in the area.
The inauguration of the Solar panel Energy was also attended by the local MLA of Umsning, Jason S. Mawlong, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, Arpit Upadhyaya, R. Kumar, Mission Director of National Health Mission, D. Ditismita Chowbay, CEO of AIC SELCO Foundation, District Medical & Health Officer of Ri Bhoi, Dr. M. Syiemlieh in the present of ASHA workers and local residents of Umsawnongkharai area.
Speaking on the occasion, Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma lauded the initiative of SELCO Foundation for installing this Solar power energy to curb unstable power supply that being the health centre is needed stable power supply for various services and mainly for the storage of vaccine.
He also appreciated the health workers of National Health Mission and other health workers in the state and it is their responsibility that we can day by day improved health sector in the state.
“The state government is also focusing on health sector and even large amount of money was spent in health sector with the sole aim to improve health sector especially in the rural area” said Conrad K. Sangma, adding that the state government was very happy that health workers and ASHA workers had played a pivotal role in improving health sector in the state and it is their sincerity and dedication that we can provide better healthcare facilities in the state: he added.
Coincidentally, as the World Health Day is celebrated, Sangma also urged the health workers to continue their untiring services on rendering their service to the people and being the health workers, they should understand that their duty is to provide good services in improving more healthcare facilities in the state, he further added.
