Summary of Initiatives – Infrastructure
- Set-Up of Shillong Smart City Limited for implementing the Smart Cities Mission Scheme in Shillong city
- Construction of the first phase of the Technology Park at Umsawli, New Shillong is in progress since October 2018.
- Launch of the Solar Power Policy 2020: Proposed to setup a 10MW plant in Meghalaya which would see an investment of 150 crores. The location for the plant has been set at Ri-Bhoi and West Garo hills. Solar Energy is one of the sources to help bridge the gap between the production of 185.2MW Energy against the requirement of at least 610MW of power.
- Launch of “Restart Meghalaya Mission’ on 15th August 2020: Under the “Restart Meghalaya Mission”, the following initiatives in Infrastructure have been
- Total Investment of 7453 Crore committed over the next 3 years for infrastructure development
- 13 major roads covering a length of about 350kms will be constructed at an estimated cost of 850 Crore
- Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) to all 5,89,000 rural households in the State by 2022.
- 22.5 Megawatt Ganol Hydro Electric Project will be completed in the next 2 years
- Tura and Jowai will be developed as Smart Towns with an investment of 50 Crore each.
